EAGLES

In May, many of the 500 to 750 bald eagles that gather during the winter in Homer on the spit are still soaring around the bay or sitting on the masts of boats, peaks of rooftops, and light poles. WHALES

One of the best times to view the migration of Grey Whales is in May. Many boat excursions out of Seward, Whittier, and Homer will put you within easy viewing of these magnificient creatures as they return to their summer feeding grounds. Pods of Orcas are seen in Resurrection Bay, and white Beluga whales may be seen from the road in Cook Inlet along Turnagain Arm. BEARS

Denali National Park opens mid-May and the 'Big Five' have spring fever moving about the park as you pass through. What are the 'Big Five' you ask? They are moose, caribou, wolves, Dall sheep, and bears. Black bears stay to the forested areas while Alaska's huge Grizzly wanders the tundra. The Grizzly is the most often seen bear in the park. You drive to Denali National Park from Anchorage in your comfortable motorhome from Great Alaskan Holidays.

ICE MUSEUM

The Aurora Ice Museum mesmerizes you with the ever-changing colored ice crystal chandeliers. Sit back on the caribou covered stools at the Ice Bar and enjoy an Appletini. Explore the four themed bedrooms, and amazing ice sculptures. Virtually everything is made from ice.

OUTDOOR HOT SPRING

Chena Hot Springs was first discovered in 1905 by gold miners. The original 1914 lodge today serves as the front desk lobby, gift shop, and 'Trails End' Lounge. The outdoor hot springs lake is a wonderful experience for those 18 years and older. The resort is a leader in geothermal energy production, cooling the ice museum in summer while heating the greenhouse in winter.
